This month you may experience energies of confidence, creativity, determination, and greater recognition of your needs and the needs of humanity. The winds of new changes will most likely blow into your life. This is a time when you have closed one book and are about to begin writing your next book. With this, October holds an incredible amount of luck to be had. Spirit shows me October is the crescendo of a symphony, the symphony of your life. You have been a tree in the forest growing new branches and leaves for a while now, and it is necessary to clean and clear anything from your life that is no longer working for you, be it people, places, or things. This is undoubtedly a “Let Go and Let God” month!
Last year I watched an excellent documentary about mushrooms called Fantastic Fungi. Spirit recently had me revisit it, and one thing that stood out was when someone said, “Mushrooms tend to freak people out because they don’t understand them.” When you start learning about the health benefits that nature has always been providing us, you will find power in that knowledge.
October is also symbolic of the Wheel of Fortune Card, representing an actual turning point in your life when things will get better from here. Opportunities you could never imagine are suddenly available to you, and you have the chance to make a significant change in your life. While it may be unexpected and unfamiliar, see this as an invitation to turn things around and take an entirely new direction in your life. The more you tune into your intuition and allow the Universe to guide you, the better the outcomes will be. You may find meditation most beneficial this month, as the Earth’s energies are constantly changing, and it can be hard to maintain a sense of feeling grounded. It is essential to follow your intuition with what feels right at the moment. With a bit of flexibility and patience, you can succeed in anything you set out to do this month.
We still have a total of seven Retrogrades (Chiron, Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, and Uranus) playing into the vibes this month! Pluto goes direct on October 7th, and Saturn will finally go direct on October 10th, bringing a close to some collective karma and even some personal karma in your life. Jupiter and Mercury both go direct on the 18th. You will continue to feel the shifts this month as your life integrates and updates all the experiences this year has brought.
Here are some other essential things to be on the lookout for this month:
October 6th—New Moon in Libra: The Moon will be located on the same side of the Earth as the Sun and will not be visible in the night sky. This is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere. This Moon is the best Moon to bring balance into your life, declutter, organize, and make room for your desires to come to you. This is also a great Moon to work on to bring balance to your mind, body, and soul.
October 7th—Draconids Meteor Shower: The Draconids is a minor meteor shower producing only 10 meteors per hour. It is produced by dust grains left behind by comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner, first discovered in 1900. The Draconids is an unusual shower in that, unlike most other showers, the best viewing is in the early evening instead of early morning. The shower runs annually from October 6th–10th and peaks this year on the night of the 7th. This year, the nearly new Moon will leave dark skies for what should be an excellent show. The best viewing will be in the early evening from a dark location far away from city lights. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Draco but can appear anywhere in the sky.
October 20th—Full Moon in Aries: The Moon will be located on the opposite side of the Earth, and the Sun’s face will be fully illuminated. Early Native American tribes knew this full moon as the Hunter’s Moon because, at this time of year, the leaves are falling, and the game is fat and ready to hunt. This Moon has also been known as the Travel Moon and the Blood Moon. This Full Moon carries the energies of releasing on the physical level of your life. This is the perfect time to take a good look at your life and anything that is no longer working for you or is causing clutter or a mess. Organize your bag, medicine cabinets, drawers, closets, etc., during this time and release, breathe, and let go.
October 21st/22nd—Orionids Meteor Shower: The Orionids are an average shower producing up to 20 meteors per hour at its peak. It is produced by dust grains left behind by comet Halley, known and observed since ancient times. The shower runs annually from October 2nd to November 7th. It peaks this year on the night of October 21st and the morning of October 22nd. This year, the full Moon will be a problem for the Orionids, and its glare will block out all but the brightest meteors. But if you are patient, you should still be able to catch a few good ones. The best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Orion but can appear anywhere in the sky.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go.” —Dr. Seuss, Oh the Places You’ll Go.
Use the energies that October has to offer you with love, kindness, and action. October is a month of completion and new beginnings, and bringing yourself into wholeness. Lead with your heart this month, and do not waiver on what is your inner truth.
My work views all the elements of being a human—the physical, emotional, and mental—as deeply intertwined… It is from this whole-person perspective that we can best identify the underlying causes of our struggles and empower ourselves to heal.
